Countries that have a visa on arrival arrangement with Qatar

Residents of these 33 approved countries can obtain a Tourist Visa upon arrival. The visa can be purchased for a nominal fee at the airport or port. It can also be issued online instantly prior to travel. This visa is valid for one month and cannot be extended.

The United States, Britain, France, Italy, Germany, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, Switzerland, Austria, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Portugal, Ireland, Greece, Finland, Spain, Monaco, the Vatican, Iceland, Andorra, San Marino, Lichtenstein, Brunei, Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, and South Korea.

Citizens from Russia, China and India to be included in the list of 'visa on arrival' countries. The move will come come into effect beginning of 2017. Visitors to get visas within 48 hours. 

This move aimed at increasing the number of visitors to Qatar from 2.9 million last year to 5 million in 3 years time.

Qatar Airways signs deal with Qatar Tourism Authority and VFS Global Group to make it easier for visitors to get tourist visas to Qatar. 



Visa on arrival

If your passport is from one of the countries on this list then you’re eligible for a single-entry visa on arrival. This is valid for a one-month stay in Qatar. Please approach an immigration counter, present your passport and pay your visa fee.

If you’re a resident of a GCC country (Gulf Cooperation Council) then you’re eligible for a single-entry visa on arrival. The visa will only be issued if your residence permit is valid for at least six months and if your profession (as mentioned on your residence permit) appears on this list. Please approach an immigration counter, present your passport and pay your visa fee. Your visa will be valid for a one-month stay in Qatar and it can be renewed for a further two months.

Paying your visa fee

The easiest way to pay your visa fee is with your credit card or debit card, directly at a passport control counter.directly at an immigration counter. The visa fee depends on your nationality and type of visa.

If you’d like to pay your visa fee with cash, then you need to visit the designated bank counter (map) before you approach a passport control counter. The bank will charge a fee (QAR 25/USD 7) for processing your cash payment. All major currencies are accepted.

Citizens of the following countries do not require a visa to enter Qatar:

  •  Bahrain
  •  Kuwait
  •  Oman
  •  Saudi Arabia
  •  Turkey (30 days)
  •  United Arab Emirates

Professions that are eligible for visa on arrival at Qatar (For GCC Residents)

201 categories of professionals who hold valid resident permit of GCC country can get visa on arrival.

  • Applicants must be currently employed in one of the 201 authorized professions, and hold valid permit and passport for at least six months.
  • Applicants must possess a return ticket to point of origin.
  • The visa on arrival is valid for one month and can be extended for another three months by paying extra fees for every additional month.
  • A fee of QR100 applies to each visa to be paid through credit card and QR50 for each companion. A penalty of QR200 per day applies to each expired visa.
